This site is designed to support anyone who is struggling with getting their Inflametory Bowel Disease under control.  I focus on healing your body by eating the right foods, taking necessary supplements,  and focusing on your mental wellbeing.

After years of struggling with Ulcerative Colitis, I was able to heal my gut by following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). Read more about me in the section below to understand why I am on this mission to help those with IBD  overcome their diseases and live a normal healthy life.

About Me and My Mission

KitchenHeadshot.jpg

My name is Rachel and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in 2002.  Over the past 19 years I have spent countless hours at the doctor's, in hospitals, and researching how to overcome this debilitating auto-immune disease.  The diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis was a life altering moment for me as I am sure it has been for many others.  This disease consumes your daily life and can cause both emotional and physical ramifications, that only those that have truly understand.

Over the years I have done extensive research and have gained a significant amount of knowledge of how the disease affects my body and what I can do to stop the symptoms within days of a flare.  I have tried herbal medicine, homeopathy,  traditional medicine, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine.  And after a lot of trial and error, I found that diet and supplements are the fastest and safest way to heal my gut.

Every individual is different and every body is made differently, but I want to share my story and research in hopes that maybe even one piece of information on this site helps you alleviate symptoms of this horrible disease.  Because Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease are both Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), many of the items I discuss can also benefit those with Crohn's disease.  I hope you find this site supportive and valuable throughout your UC or Crohn's journey.

Full disclosure, I am not a doctor nor in the medical profession, I am just a person living with UC.  Feel free to discuss any and all advice given on this site with a medical professional.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
